How to play MiniChess
- Move pieces normally. Each piece moves by standard chess rules: rooks straight, bishops diagonally, knights in an L, the queen any direction, the king one square.
- Take turns. Players alternate moves, capturing an opponent piece by moving onto its square.
- Protect your king. When your king is attacked it is in check and you must respond immediately.
- Deliver checkmate. You win by placing the opponent king in check with no legal escape.
MiniChess strategy & tips
- Control the centre early to give your pieces maximum mobility.
- Develop knights and bishops before launching an attack.
- On a small board, tactics arrive fast — always check what your move leaves undefended.
